>From my limited experience with the *ist-D, I'm a little less impressed with this than I had hoped to be. I immediately tried some shots with my 300/2.8 (with and without the 2x teleconverter). The extra reach was impressive and fun to work with. But the resulting prints, though certainly not *bad* by any stretch of the imagination, definitely showed a loss of resolution from the additional enlargement necessitated by the small APS-sized sensor. Definitely a trade-off. Probably worthwhile for wildlife and sports shooters but not so much so for landscape guys like me. What I did like about the small sensor was the smaller magnification required for frame-filling shots when shooting macro and the resulting increase in depth of field. In that situation I found the trade-off worthwhile. TANSTAAFL (There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch) -- Mark Roberts Photography and writing www.robertstech.com
