i do not think so, not if the meter is linear. i mean, if the lensIn your example below, you did not take into account that metered value may read the same at some later date, but the exposure needed is totally different because the meter doesnt take reflectance into account. It would only work if the image remained the same too.
true aperture is not f/8, but f/9, it will be so regardless of the light level and reflectance.
the same goes for shutter speed.
once you know the compensation for this kinds of errors, you can meter the scene with a spot meter
(TTL) and do the zone Ansel Adams thing, or a greycard with any other kind of TTL meter, if you
have one handy. the exposure would be different, sure. but the compensation for the meter reading
better be the same.
