I've got an LX, a 300/4, an AF400T, and an AF2T flash extender.
1. I'd vote for a faster shorter focal. with the 300 it is easy to get some out-of-focus pics (with great bokeh) ;-)
2. I suspect that just firing the flash in his direction 2-3 times will take care of the situation, no police needed.
