Since the majority of the SLR users are Canon users, especially the
REBEL crowd, they don't even know what an aperture ring is.  So why
would Pentax want to go to additional cost to confuse them?

We should all be blaming Canon for starting the trend of no aperture
ring.  If they weren't so wildly successful, Nikon and Pentax wouldn't
be following along.
