The real answer to your question is no, you have to stop the lens down
manually for metering and for exposure.
The 20mm is lovingly called the Bow-Wow Takumar by some on the list. I don't
know if it is  truly a bad lens, or is just not as good as it should be.
Bill Casselberry has one, perhaps he will make some useful comments on its
good and bad qualities.
