Mike,

I think you are making a good decision by saving up for a late model LX.
However, I would not pass up a low mileage (does not appeared used) LX;
especially if it is being sold at a reputable dealer with a warranty, but I
would definitely follow Shel Belinkoff's "Questions to ask When Buying an
LX":
http://home.earthlink.net/~belinkoff/cameras/lx/questions.html

I bought a very low mileage (Demo Condition) LX and had it CLA'd at Pentax
Colorado. Unless you buy a "New Old Stock LX," I would probably have it
CLA'd. Then you would be certain that it is working to specifications and
it has a six (6) month warranty.

If I recall, when the last LX's were being sold new, stores where asking
$1,200+ for the Body and a FA-1 Viewfinder. Late last year, Nathan Camera
had a couple "As New LX's" for ~$795. I will let you know if I come across
a nice LX.

Regards,

Jose R. Rodriguez

I've a bit of a favor to ask.

A few days back I posted a cantankerous message about metal cameras and the
Nikon FM3a.

I've been using a borrowed MZ-S for the past couple of days and find it's
not for me. But I think I had better make one last attempt to stick with
Pentax before moving on, so I think I'm going to save up for an LX.

If anybody comes across a late-model 535XXXX+ LX for sale at a decent price,
please let me know, will you?
