Velvia - I am presuming out of doors, but not sunny midday (not too high a light/shadow contrast), with a tripod.

This is the only one of the slide films I have a lot of experience with.
Velvia is a high-saturation high-contrast film. Which means that the colors are very vivid, and the brights render very bright, and the darks render very dark.
I used it for some fall foliage pictures, and the ones that are evenly lit came out beautifully. I think it would work well on a cloudy day, and would definitely brighten up a somewhat gray scene on a day like that.
In print film, I usually shoot Fuji Reala on bright sunny days, which has a bit less contrast. Now I just need to find a slide film that's like that as well. Lower contrast, but still with some saturation to it.
