All things being equal, the smaller dot pitch will allow you to run at
higher resolutions.  But the difference isn't that critical - either
should be adequate for 1280x1024, which is probably the recommended
resolution for either monitor (it's what most 19" monitors suggest).

Are you sure that's the only difference?  In some cases the higher
price also gets you a flatter screen, or a higher bandwidth (useful
if you want to run at higher than 1280x1024 at fast refresh rates),
or a different technology (Trinitron instead of Shadow Mask, say)
which gives a brighter overall picture.
