You might couch this thread in such terms, but at this point in my life, I've
perhaps chosen the "bird in the hand" as opposed to seeking birds in the
bush. Thus I choose to shoot "pro" emulsions I am intimately familiar with,
as opposed to hop-scotching from one to another within the Mark or out. It is
the consistency of "Pro" emulsion's quality that makes my final products
consistent (and predictable). For day in day out constancy, I've confined my
[color] emulsions to about five since 1994. I'm just now experimenting with
PORTRA B&W (C-41) and will make up my mind about it in the near future.
Otherwise, I shoot Illford.
*I'm also reminded I am a "foundview" advocate, thus emulsions which
"saturate" or change the apparent intensity of the color or the venue
presented won't ever find their way into my cameras.
Ah, but then, we ~are~ expressing our own jaundiced, personal preferences,
not submitting scientific proof of performance primacy, one over the other.
