Tom's pretty much correct in his statement above. My original
post was to point out a possible alternative to the typical
measurements that had been mentioned in several places, and
which got me to thinking about exploring new ideas and
techniques for developing B&W film. Frankly, I don't see it as
nutzo, just as another option. Since I have my basic
film/developer down cold, and am pretty close on a couple of
others, I'd like to see if what has been proposed by Anchell and
others has some merit. So, over the next few months I'll be
exploring these options.

Absolutely. Over the years it's easy to get stuck thinking in
one way - at least it is for me, so Anchell has put together
this compendium of ideas and products that, if nothing else,
have opened my mind to, what are to me, new concepts.

What is interesting is that over the past 18 months or so, since
I've been on this list, and have been exploring photography
with new eyes, the quality of my negatives has substantially
increased. I used to think my negs were pretty good, but
comparing my older negs with current negs, I can't help but
wonder how I ~ever~ got decent prints before.

So, once you've got your basics down, why not experiment a
little?
