I doubt any one is going 150+ in a gymkhana. Maybe 70-80. The
course are usually vary short with lots and lots of turns. They
are usually set up in parking lots.

On ice I would be leery of the outsides of turns. There usually
are not any long straights so that pretty much leaves the inside
of turns. They usually have pretty strict rules about where
people can watch from for safety reasons. But the cars run one
at a time so you can watch the first few cars and decide where
you want to shoot from. The course is usually so small you can
move around a lot if you want to, sometimes with a long zoom you
can pretty much cover the track for one spot especially if it is
kind of high.

These are not professional drivers so they usually don't run
around the track like slot cars. That means they often get out
of shape and that makes for interesting pictures.

Thanks for the reminder. I haven't been to a gymkhana in years
and years. I will have to see if I can find out if any run in my
area and go do some fun photography.
