It seems you don't know what the "Average" American is.

people are in line for an MZ-S. >>
Time will tell if *any* "group", including PDML members, line up for the
MZ-S. But if the recent past, reflected in the growing sales of the ZX and MZ
series is any indication, the MZ-S will come roaring out of the chute,
bringing PENTAX back toward the fore in SLR cameradome.
*There's a little hesitation, a little grousing about it not having this or
that feature, but wait 'til the first PDML members report back on how *good*
it actually feels with the grip/vertical release bolted on or "how smooth and
ergonomicly sound it feels in these big hands of mine" and similar gushy
accolades.
The MZ-S is already a hit waiting in the wings. As I noted, if I were in the
market for a 35mm body, I'd be a prime candidate.
And what's this fixation with the American poor? While they don't rank high
socially in the United States, they *are* Americans and more importantly,
American taxpayers, who, by that affiliation alone, makes them rich compared
to most others of the world's poor.
Most truly poor American families will get tax refunds totaling about $1,500
to $3,500 in the next two months, all in one lump sum: more than 3 times the
average annual wage of many Eastern European countries, 10 to 15 times the
average annual wage in most "Third World" nations.
And like I noted, our poor *could* buy a $3,000 SLR kit with their tax refund
(if they wanted), but they'll probably end up buying a $1,200 big screen TV,
buy tires for the old jalopy, shoes for the kids and maybe even a used, 1992,
20 foot Bassin' boat instead...
For them you see, it's a matter of priorities and SLRs (any) simply don't
show on their radar screens.
*Our poor pay more, percentage wise, for food and shelter. The rest of their
lives are purely American and only Americans know how sweet *that* is.
