what's the most accessible version of powerDVD?

friends, I'm getting sick of windows media player saying to me, 
windows media player cannot play this dvd because the analog copy 
protection or whatever it is is not turned on.
try updating to the latest video card. Etc.
I'm thinking of using powerDVD. any suggestions on the latest or most 
accessible version?
