Well, whatever works for you...the good thing about this is that we have a
lot of options at our disposal, something which, if you'll forgive me, a
good number of visually impaired people don't seem to realise or care about.
Personally I adore winamp's audio flexibility but have found it pretty
unhelpful when it comes to playing video files, even when I think I might
have downloaded the right codecs and have the newest versions, etc...so
that's what I use VLC for and it's never failed me...I have a lot of obscure
movies, some of which are encoded weirdly, have subtitles, etc, and VLC
works like a charm in all respects. I don't even know how to make a playlist
using vlc!

Interesting, I've found VLC 1 of the best players I've ever used for audio
and its playlist management functionality is pretty good.
Yeah, the interface for Windows can be a little tricky.

It will play just about everything, but it's mostly for video formats. I
wouldn't recommend it for your audio files as it's just not really
designed with the flexibility to make playlists and such that, Winamp,
and probably foobar as well, has in abundance.
As for whether it works with screenreaders....well, yes. Documentation is
a little sparse, though. There is a list of keyboard commands somewhere
and the programme is entirely usable via keyboard. Don't expect a great
deal of voice feedback, though. However, if you want to play videos, VLC
is pretty much the best solution out there...no need to hunt around for
codecs..it's played everything I've thrown at it from weirdly encoded
MKVs to DVDs.

Listers,
Does VLC Media Player work with screen readers? If so, where may I go to
learn how to use the player? I hear that it plays everything. I mean
just
about all extensions.
