I don't think Device Manager was lying to you. I believe Device Manager checks your local hard drive, any removable drives you have loaded (such as a manufacturers CD) and the MS update repository for device drivers. If you haven't downloaded a newer device driver and RealTek hasn't uploaded one to MS then I don't think Device Manager will find it. For example, it doesn't check the RealTek web site. There are other 3rd party applications that will do this for you.
