I always use the safely remove hardware feature. I've had it for almost two years, and this just started in the last couple of months. My heart is in his hands. If you are using a windows computer are you using the safely remove hardware option before disconnecting the Zenstone? If you are using a mac are you ejecting the Zenstone before disconnecting it? In either case that's one reason that could be happening.
