Hi Mario, two more things to try: A. Just check on the About dialog on the Help menu that you're definitely using Audacity 1.3.9.
B. Maybe there's some problem with using the [ and ] keys on an Italian keyboard. You could try the following method which uses commmands on menus rather than the [ and ] keys: 1. Press space start playback. 2. press p to pause where you want selection to start. 3. Open the edit menu, press s to open the select sub menu, and then choose left at playback position. 4. press p to resume playback. 5. press p where you want selection to end. 6. open the edit menu, press s to open the select sub menu, and then choose right at playback position. 7. press space to stop playback.
