I've heard that the driver certification process with Microsoft is much
more stringent with Vista and Windows 7 than it was in XP.  You
know all of those times you could install a driver and it would
warn you the driver isn't certified in XP, but you could go ahead
anyway?  I believe this isn't possible anymore in Windows 7.
So it will take a lot more effort for vendors to make drivers,
and this coupled with tech companies laying off people might
be pinching the whole thing.  But a company as big as Creative Labs
ought to be able to work this out.  If they don't act soon, I can see
the MacIntosh quickly becoming the king of audio work.
