Now that I have had my Stream for a while I can comment regarding music
playback.
I love my Stream, so make no mistake there, best $300 I have spent in a
long time and I understand that music playback is not the primary
function of the Stream. having said that, I did a side by side
comparison between my Stream and an Ipod Mini, playing through the same
set of amplified speakers. The Stream was ok, but the Ipod sounded
noticeably better, cleaner output, and just a better sound generally
speaking. I should add that I also used the same cable on both devices.
This did not surprise me however as the Ipod's sole mission in life is
to play music, but that was my take.

I believe that the stream is just a little more responsive than the PTT-1
when moving back and forth through music folders. I haven't found a way to
random play files either.
