Which update pop up are you talking about? If it's the one that let's you know about a new version when you start Winamp, you can disable that in the settings. Go into Winamp preferences, I use Control-p. Arrow up or down until you get to "General Preferences". You can then tab over to "Check for new version of Winamp at startup." and uncheck that option.
