While the zen stone can be stopped resuming at the same place in a file, it won't hold if you switch to another file and come back to the original. It also has no forwarding abilities, you can only jump from file to file.

I love them both, but the smaller zenstone which has the switch on top instead of the push bar is much better to work with. You do not need any software but as one other person mentioned, you only need to plug it into the usb port, charge it and that is it. You really dont need a manual but go to the blind geek web site and there you can listen to an audio file on the zenstone.
