I apologize if I'm missing something, but the Zen Stone does have a fast forwarder feature. If you hold the right edge of the navigation circle down, and keep it pressed down, it'll fast forward through the current file. It is true that it won't retain your place in a file if you jump to another file. I don't understand the statement about being connected to the computer.
