Hi Dan: Basically anything that facilitates recording and editing is good. If you got those, you'll want to produce your recording and then prepare it for upload.
The preparation of an audio for podcast should follow these principals. 1. File format is optimized for fastest download with the best audio. This would mean using compression and or normalization in your recordings but this is not truly necessary unless you want to sound great. It will also mean mp3 bit rates less than 96 .
