Hi Gordon. 16 bit with a frequency of 44 khz is exactly right and you will see fluctuations in the resulting bitrates. The bitrates generally fluctuate between 700 and 1000 kbps but it is really dependant on the type of music you're ripping. Complex music will need more than simple music.
