High Alex,
I have been doing this for quite a few years, I've never run in to that
problem.
You may have the main volume control on your sound card turned up a little
to high.
Lower the main volume control on your sound card, and you should be fine.
It should be sat at 50% or lower to get red of access clipping or
distortion.
  John Price.
