What I do is something similar. The cable line feeds into a deddicated vcr. I then plug a y-cable (with 2 rca males and 1 3.5 inch male) from the output of the vcr into the input jack of a fm wireless transmitter. Then when I want the audio, I merely turn on the dedicated fm transmitter I have locked in place for that purpose.
A transmitter whichworks well for this purpose, as it has no built in cable but a 3.5 jack on its interface, are the old Arkon SF-120 and sf-121 soundfeeders. The sf-120 with their single aa battery is long unavailable but the successor sf-121, powered by 2 aaa batteries, is still available from a few sources including www.hififorless.com which this morning shows 6 in stock It is also available directly from Arkon www.arkon.com for $19.95. The hififorless.com price with its limited current stock is $11.88. Both do not include shipping, of course.
