Gold Wave, Sound Forge, Total Recorder, Audacity, these are the ones
that spring readily to mind. You could even use Studio Recorder, which
is about as speech-friendly as they come, even though it's primarily
designed for voice recording. There's no shortage of these. I don't know
where you looked, Frank, but there are all sorts of options out there.
