You really were a child protegy weren't you?  Now, I'll admit that the first 
computer I used was for a Fortran Programming class.  It was an IBM 1401 second 
generation system.  It took up all of one floor in one of the largest buildings 
on our college campus, had 2K of memory, and used transistors, microchips had 
not come into use yet.  All input was done with punchcards.
