Studio Recorder is a really nice program that enables one to edit/record, create or playback MP3's in the background via background processing, & do sound on sound and/or multi-track mixing of any type of audio. Not only can it be used for regular music, but it also has the capabilities of working with and creating spoken word content for 4-track books. The other nice thing is that one doesn't need any custom scripts or set files to get started. It works quite well with screen readers right out of the box. There is currently a full-featured public beta available for people to download and test-drive at: http://www.aph.org/beta
