Kevin, I'm not sure about the repeater question, but I can tell you the XM 
has more repeathers than Sirius. I'm not sure about the boombox though. If 
you have you antena placed in a window, I should say on a window seil, it 
should work but you'll have to try it and see. I have had more luck getting 
the XM signal than I've had getting the Sirius signal. In fact, Sirius 
recomends you put their dish outside, but XM doesn't recomend that, although 
reception might be better with XM if you do that but I haven't had too, 
although I am upstairs and don't have that problem. It might be tricky being 
in a basement no mater which provider you chose. If I could only have one 
service, reception considered, I would have XM--no questions asked.
