Hi Brian. We may have different versions of the program as mine certainly doesn't make any sound when complete. When the volume setting is in action, the cancel button comes to focus and disappears when the job is complete. You can also tab into the list of tracks and see what the new volume has been set to. If a track shows no volume change then it hasn't yet been processed. You might want to tab into the list to see why it isn't doing a great job with the two files you mentioned. I've never had any problems with it and never found anything as good for setting volumes of MP3 files. It is accurate to within 1.5 DB so maybe you're hearing the difference because one file is nearly 1.5 DB higher than the other.
