Thanks Jonathan for that great review pointing us to Replay AV, a marvellous product.
I am having trouble with the Convert to MP3 function. >From the main screen, I can invoke the copy. Can manage with a bit of mucking around in jaws cursor mode to select a file and have it land in the playlist pain. After invoking 'Convert to MP3' with spacebar, a dialog comes up with one control, which is 'cancel'. The counter ticks over until reaching 100 %. Then the thing stops. 'Cancel' is still the only control (not a 'finish' to be found), and on hitting 'cancel' one returns to the previous screen and on 'exit', is back in the main screen. A '.mp3' file is nowhere to be found. Does anyone have any experience of this function to relate in order to set me on the right track? Will be much obliged. I do realise we can have the initial recording saved in MP3, but one doesn't always intend to keep a recording and a format like 'rm' preserves the original quality and uses minimal storage.
