If you installed Realplayer correctly, it should already be the default
player for .ram and all other Real Media types. But, to check this, to the
following:

In Windows Explorer or My computer, click on Tools \ file Options. Press
ctrl-shift-tab, so you move to the File Types page. Scroll down the list of
file type till you come to .ram. click on the Change button, to examine the
current settings.
