Conversions aren't bad, but I try to stay away from them whenever possible, 
cause when you convert lots of times, you lose quality. But if you 
absolutely must convert a file, I like DB power amp music converter

and if you want to convert to a file it doesn't support by default, chances 
are you can download the necessary codec that lets you make conversions to 
those different file types.
