The virtual cable thing is supposed to work exactly how electrical audio
cables would work if every piece of software was a box with inputs and
outputs on it running through a mixer. I think the input and output streams
can go to more than one place. You could send skype's playback to your
recording program and sound card with the audio repeater to get it to the
sound card. You could then set skype's recording setting to the cable, and
audio repeat that to the sound card's recording device. The cables operate
silently without the repeater hooking a feed from the cable to the sound
card. Since cables can take multiple sources, you can incorporate winamp and
shoutcast into the setup so theoretically you can be recording,
broadcasting, and talking on skype. The number of cables you can use is
determined in that box that says number of cables. It then gives more sound
devices in every program that allows switching of sound cards. You set the
apps to the virtual stuff, and bridge it together with the audio repeater.
