Gary! It's called an "RIAA Preamp", where RIAA stands for "Recording
Industry Association of America". I think you can get them for $50 or so.
If you have an old receiver around you could plug the turntable into it's
phono input then run one of the receiver's line level outputs into your
sound card. A RIAA Preamp is part of the phono input of a receiver.
