Not sure, I would assume so, why else would they mention it if one needed 
two systems, then one may as well use a real cable, I don't think you could 
share sound from one system on another anyways, to use the virtual cable to 
hook the sound from two networked machines together. I guess one would have 
to find specific instructions on using virtual audio cable to see what they 
say to do, and more than one person probably made instructions for doing it, 
depending on what they had available to them.
