Hi Shawn, Well, I just got a new computer. It has XP pro as the operating system. Like I said, I have Intel integrated sound. It seems to work quite well. Much better than whatever is in that old HP. When I look in programs, I see something called Sound Max. When I go in here, I have all kinds of volume settings. But my mutes aren't checkboxes, like they are on my HP. Instead they are buttons, so it's hard to tell if something is muted or not. I finally did realize that I could test my microphone, by going to Goldwave, so that's what I did. I don't know why it took me so long to think to try this. Anyway, it stated that the volume for recording was at 100, and for playback it's at 70. However, when I played back what I had recorded, it wasn't that loud. It wasn't low or anything, but just not what I expected, for the volume being at 100. Terri
