Hello everyone, Sorry for the cross-posting, but I figured the more help I can get with this, then the better. I've got a couple of problems going on, and I'm not sure what to make of them. First of all, I have Intel integrated sound on this computer. When I look under the programs menu, I see something called Sound Max. This is where I go to change all my volume settings. Well, today I tried to go and set up my microphone. I have one of those small, rather cheap desktop mics, that you can purchase from Radio Shack. It has two tripple A batteries in it. Well, I connected it, and I noticed that when I touched it, or moved it, I didn't hear any sound from it, threw my speakers. On my older computer, I would always hear it, and I'd actually have to keep it disconnected, until I wanted to use it. I thought that maybe I just wouldn't hear feedback from it on this new computer though. But just in case I was wrong, I changed the batteries in it. They die rather quickly anyway, so I wouldn't have been surprised if this was the problem. But changing the batteries made no difference. So I went into the volume settings, and it's a bit confusing in there. I'm not able to tell if the microphone is muted or not, because the mute isn't a checkbox, it's just a button. The microphone volume is set at 65, and I've even turned the boost on, just to see if there would be a difference. But I have know idea if this microphone is working or not. I tried to run the audio wizard to see if that would help, but it didn't. I was suppose to read the text on the screen, into the microphone, but instead I just talked. This was of course so that it could adjust the volume. It stated congradulations, that I had set the mic up properly, but I don't know if that's accurate or not. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on? And is there any way I can test my mic, and possibly get feedback, like me hearing myself? Now here's the other odd problem, and I'm not too sure how to explain this. Whenever I go into the Sound Max program, and I mess with any of the settings, my speakers start to act weird. Now, when I type, and a bit when the computer talks, the sound kind of fades out. It's not a huge difference in sound, but it's enough to be annoying. And it does concern me. Would anyone know what could be causing this? And possibly what I can do about it? I'd hate to think that every time I go into the Sound Max, that this is going to happen. Any help on these situations, will be much appreciated. Terri
