Hi, Marie, go to preferences with control p, and then from the
tree-view, select plugins, and then input, and then tab over to the
list, and select the first one, the mp3 encoder, and then tab to the
configure button, and press the space bar, upon which you'll be in a
tab control, and you should be focused on the general tab, for points
of reference, but once you've done that, control shift tab to the
streaming tab, and once there, tab to the track bars, the first one,
with window-eyes will say 20 of 50, so, press the end key, to put that
at 50 of 50, then tab to the next track bar, which should default to 40
of 50, but again, press the end key on the six pack to bring this to 50
of 50, that would be 100 per cent, if you're using jaws, tab to the
okay button, and press the space bar, then tab to the close button, and
again, press the space bar, and you're done, because, with the buffer
as wide as it will go, there is less likelihood of break up with
streams. With your 56k connection, just leave the edit box at 64kbps,
that is before the track bars, but if you had a slower connection, I
would have instructed you to change this to 128, but if you did that,
the stream would have taken a long time to buffer. These settings also
assume that you're trying to listen to a dial-up stream, because if you
try to listen to a stream like broad band, which would be too fast for
your connection, that would be another reason why winamp would buffer,
because it couldn't fill its' buffer fast enough. Hope this helps you,
and if anybody has any corrections to make, please do so, but this is
what I do to insure less break ups from streams.
