Greetings listers,
Mine isn't a lot different from some I've seen on this list in the past day
or two. I'm running the latest version of Media Player -- 9 point whatever.
And I'm aware that F9 and F10 are the function keys that lower and raise
volume respectively.
When I attempt such adjustments, my system seems to force me to adjust
volume incrementally. I first tap F9 or F10. Volume does not change for
perhaps 15 or 20 seconds on average. I'm told by a sighted person who has
observed this, that considerable disk activity is going on during the
interval. When it's done, volume goes up or down a bit.
Presumably, I might be a bit low on RAM. But not so, according to the 512mb
reading I get from systems in the control panel.
It has been suggested to me that I try quieting any visualization options
that might be checked in options under the WMP tools menu. I could find only
one. It was under "plug-ins." The change did not solve the problem.
On one hand, it's hardly a major problem. On the other, it is something of
an inconvenience.
Any suggestions anyone can offer would be appreciated. And I might not mind
if those wishing to take a shot at this could provide me with some fairly
specific instructions regarding how I'd go about implementing suggested
cures.
Thanks so much.

Walt Kramer
