Total recorder will not let you record if something is not set properly.

I have TR set properly, or at least I think so, and I can tell the mic is live because when I uncheck the mute mic option I can hear what I'm saying through the PC speakers. However, when I record, nothing seems to be recorded. I seem to remember something about a setting that might need to be adjusted in the Control Panel or something, but don't quite rmember what exactly that involved.
