Bellow is a pilRC snipit of a random bitmap from our source code..

It creates a Bitmap with an ID FolderBitmapFamily,
It contains a high-denisity(320x320 screen size) 8-bit colour btmap for more recent OS5 devices,
a 16-bit & 8-bit colour low-density (traditional 160x160) bitmaps
as well as 4/2/1 bit grey scale/B&W bitmaps.

PilRC loads normal windows bitmaps and will do the approriate conversion to create the palm bitmap

BITMAPFAMILYEX ID FolderBitmapFamily
BEGIN
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-8-d144.bmp" BPP 8
                TRANSPARENTINDEX 204 DENSITY 2
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-16.bmp" BPP 16
                TRANSPARENT 0 255 0
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-8.bmp" BPP 8
                TRANSPARENTINDEX 210
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-4.bmp" BPP 4
                TRANSPARENTINDEX 0
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-2.bmp" BPP 2
                TRANSPARENTINDEX 0
        BITMAP "Tbmp03E8-1.bmp" BPP 1
                TRANSPARENTINDEX 0
END

Thank you for your reply Neil.
I think I understand what you are explaining. Although I am not sure how to use
PilRC to create the resource database.
How do the .rcp files look like? I had a look at the examples and tried reading
the manual... but I am slightly confused. All I want is to put a few bitmaps
into the file.
Would I use this:
BITMAP [<ResType.s>] ID <ResId.n> [LOCALE <Locale.s>]
  [<BitmapCompression>...]
BEGIN
  BITMAP <Filename.s> BPP <Depth.n> [<BitmapAttribute>...] [DENSITY <Density.n>]
  ...
END
?
If so would my rcp file just contain something like:
BITMAP ID 12345
BEGIN
BITMAP somefile/name.bmp BPP 16 END

If I just required one bitmap?
Sorry for my ignorance.

Thanks for your time.
