Hi, paperfolders in the NYC/NJ/Philadelphia region

This sounds like a great opportunity to learn how to make your own paper. I
wish I could go myself. (The workshop's site, Morven, is well worth a
visit, too.) If you're interested, sign up right away--class limited to 7.

*Saturday-Sunday, July 26-27 - Mercer County*

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Learn how to create Japanese and Western style handmade paper using
nature“s elements. Led by Arts Council of Princeton instructor Kathleen
Metaxas, this intensive two-day workshop will focus on making paper from
raw fiber.

Garden botanicals such as kozo and mulberry (imported from Japan), and
daylily leaves, marigold blossoms, and bamboo will be used as the "pulp"
for the paper. Plant fibers dry into translucent but strong tactile paper.
Flower petals and leaves become embedded within it.

This class will cover various pulp creating techniques beginning with the
natural plant and finishing with dried paper. Students should bring pressed
dried flowers and leaves and should wear comfortable shoes. There will be a
half hour break and students should bring their lunch to enjoy in the
garden.

A materials fee of $20 is payable directly to the instructor.

Open to all levels of experience. Ages 15+. Registration is $165; $140
for members of the Arts Council of Princeton or Friends of Morven. To sign
up, visit the Arts Council of Princeton website,
http://classes.artscouncilofprinceton.org/.
