Dear Joe et al.,
Thank you for informing about the Chairs' decision and pointing to the way
forward.
During the WG LC, several reviewers pointed out that the proposed change in
the OAM terminology may impact WGs that develop OAM protocols. For example,
IPPM WG, the recognized center of competence for the Performance Monitoring
OAM mechanisms and performance metrics, or WGs in the Routing area that
develop new or extend existing protocols and mechanisms for defect
detection and localization in a network, i.e., Fault Management OAM. As I
could find (thank you, Carlos, for pointing that out), the last
communication to IPPM and SPRING WGs dates back to early January of this
year, well before the WG AP and LC were announced. As the Shepherd of this
document and to facilitate a broader discussion among the relevant WGs, in
a few days, I will be reaching out to IPPM, DetNet, BIER, SPRING, and MPLS
WGs, inviting them to review and share their comments about the draft and
proposed terminology with OPSAWG community.
Please let me know if you have any concerns and suggestions.

Regards,
Greg
