Hi Sabine, Luis, Jordi, and Roland, (without the CATS chair fez) (Ccing opsawg as the draft is in the IETF#121 agenda)
Many thanks for the effort put into this document. FWIW, you may find a review of the document at: * pdf: https://github.com/boucadair/IETF-Drafts-Reviews/blob/master/2024/draft-rcr-opsawg-operational-compute-metrics-08-rev%20Med.pdf * doc: https://github.com/boucadair/IETF-Drafts-Reviews/raw/refs/heads/master/2024/draft-rcr-opsawg-operational-compute-metrics-08-rev%20Med.doc The document includes interesting background material. I like much Section 6 and the overall document spirit to leverage existing tools and mechanisms. I also appreciate the approach of unifying metrics definition to cover several uses in the service deployment/invocation process. The document can be simplified, though. For example, the use cases can be delegated to existing documents such as CATS use cases I-D. The document can also be better scoped. For example, I would offload the protocol machinery discussion. I understand the authors prefer to leverage ALTO but I'm afraid mixing the protocol machinery vs. the metric characterization makes the scope of the document difficult to handle. The document includes some applicability to the CATS case but with more focus on the service activation and placement selection problems. The various mapping tables you provided are good inputs to dig more on the granularity of the metrics that need to be used for CATS (and thus feed C-PS components, in particular). Please note that the current mapping in the draft does not list the service contact instances. Hope this helps.
