Also take a look at my draft draft-levine-6man-repsize which we have discussed in 6man. It proposes a design that is essentially identical. They were developed independently, suggesting that great* minds think alike. Mine was motivated by discussions with people at large mail systems who do not yet support IPv6 but tell me that with something like this it'd be a lot more likely.
