The WG LC on this draft has concluded. There were several nit/typo comments
raised and substantial concern about the collection of link type descriptions.
Given that, I’d like to get some feedback from the authors as to how they want
to proceed before moving this on for publication. Both the chairs and AD have
suggested the opsawg GitHub org to host a repo for descriptions.

On the IPR front, Guy, we’re still pending your response. The document also
lists several contributors, some of which I’m not sure we’d get any IPR
response even if we had current email addresses. That said, while these are
contributors to PCAP, they are not (insofar that I can tell) contributors to
this document.

Subject: WG LC: Link-Layer Types for PCAP and PCAPNG Capture File Formats
Hello, opsawg. After some delay on the part of the chairs, and after some
recent updates from the authors, we are ready to begin a two-week WG LC for
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-opsawg-pcaplinktype/ .

The plan with the three adopted PCAP-related docs is to first get this one
published (which requests an IANA registry for the PCAP[ng] LINKTYPE values).
Then, after some wordsmithing, do a WG LC on the historical PCAP format doc.
Finally, the PCAPNG doc will need more WG input and shaping, and then it will
move toward publication.

For now, please review this document and provide all feedback on the list. The
chairs would also appreciate people that review it to respond with, it’s ready
if they feel it is.

The WG LC will run until August 29.

If anyone wishes to act as a document shepherd for this or any of the three
PCAP docs, please let the chairs know.

Joe
