Team, With the CNTT initiative announced earlier this year, there has been some discussion about whether to proceed with the Iruya release this year, per the usual OPNFV cadence, or to wait until GSMA reference implementations could be included, presumably some time next year.
After soliciting community feedback via a poll last month, on Aug 27 the TSC voted to proceed with the Iruya release this year. A few things to know: - The release schedule will be compressed by ~50% (i.e., 3 months vs. 6 months) - The TSC is still considering schedule proposals; however, the release will most likely be scheduled for the first half of December, 2019. - Recall that many of our installer projects are no longer participating in OPNFV, including Apex, so projects that depend on an installer that is no longer available will need to consider migration to a different installer when deciding if and how to participate in the release. We normally approve the schedule before requesting intent-to-participate; however, given the limited time available, the TSC directed me to proceed with this step immediately. Please carefully consider the above factors when deciding whether to participate in the Iruya release. If you do decide to participate, you should plan on a *very focused and limited set of objectives* that you are certain that you can complete in a short period of time (< 3 months). If you decide to participate, please follow the instructions here <https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/DEV/Project+Inclusion+in+OPNFV+Release>. Also, in your email to the TSC, please indicate which release track you intend to participate in by including one of the following statements in your intent to participate notification: - We intend to follow the traditional track. - We intend to follow the continuous delivery track - We intend to follow both the traditional track and the continuous delivery track Once the TSC has approved a schedule, I will share it on this thread, including the deadline for intent-to-participate (MS1). Let me know if you have questions. Thanks. -- *David McBride* Release Manager, OPNFV Mobile: +1.805.276.8018 Email/Google Talk: dmcbr...@linuxfoundation.org Skype: davidjmcbride1 IRC: dmcbride
