Team, I took an action in the TSC meeting, yesterday, to start a discussion on the mailing list regarding the schedule for the Iruya release.
Option 1: traditional process. This is the process that OPNFV has followed for approximately the past 3 years. Option 2: new process (proposed). This is the process that has been discussed in the tech discuss meeting and the TSC, but has not yet been approved. Proposed schedules for both of these options are attached to the agenda for the Aug 27 TSC meeting <https://wiki.opnfv.org/display/meetings/TSC#TSC-August27,2019>, if you'd like to review them. Both schedules begin on September 9 and end on Dec 13. Note that this time period (~3 months) is approximately 50% of the duration of typical OPNFV releases of the past (~6 months). However, they would both accomplish the goal of the TSC, approved by vote in the last meeting, to have a release before the end of the CY. *Recommendation* Bin has already expressed his opinion that we should follow the traditional process for Iruya. After some discussion with Jim, I agree. The reason is that the new release process still needs more discussion to flesh out the details, followed by TSC approval. Given that we are already facing a very compressed schedule, I don't think that we can afford to wait any longer for the discussion and decision making required to approve the new process. Therefore, I recommend that we proceed with the traditional process and, in parallel, continue discussing the new process and be prepared to roll it out for the next release after Iruya in 2020.
